AF History
The Ageless Foundation Inc., a 501C public, not for profit charity, was founded in 1989 by the McGivney's after they had observed first hand the consequences of aging on the entire family through their experiences of caring for aging parents.

The social dynamics of the entire family group--grandparents, children and grandchildren--were all affected. While we thought we had above average resources, having a doctor, nurse and well educated family, it was clear that there was much more to learn.

Form our own experiences of trying to acquire and apply information, it became clear that this was not an easy task for any of us. Dealing with the social, financial, insurance and medical issues faced by each individual in each generation was difficult.

What stuck out in our search for information was that other groups focus on educating us on the demographic revolution and "greying of America" saying that it will get worse. However, we were well educated in the problems, we were living them, as many families were. Hearing that there was a problem was old news to us. We needed solutions, so we established the Ageless Foundation that would focus on the answers and seek out practical ready-to-use ideas that other families, care-giving units and communities could consider. The Ageless Foundation grew with our goals of educating and supporting programs and services that could help maximize the function of the parent and the child who were the default care giver thereby maximizing the social integrity of the family unit. By focusing on the actual caring and skills we knew that our efforts would be universally applicable in any setting and in any country.

Over time, the Foundation developed relationships with other aging agencies which furthered the growth of their programs. In sum, the Foundation has grown out of a family initiative to provide better and more complete information and services to all generations of a family, maximizing individual and social health in and among the generations. Now our goals look to the future and developing programs that can help improve the wellness of individuals as well as families and promote successful aging.
