While the is theoretically available in the nursing home or respite care our program is to empower the family members and patients care givers to do the work, with support from trainers empowering the family member or trainee to do better when they go home. In contrast , the nursing home or respite care facilities focuses on dong the service and offers relatively little in the way of training to empower the family and care givers a patient currently has. We envision setting up a building and program then allowing all communities to copy the system in any community.

This education would include education on utilizing the vast array of new telecommunication and video conferencing technology to bring families even closer using high tech to provide high touch. We feel the aide training program and the nursing home alternative/ training facility are essential to dealing with the greying of America and the family stress that this creates.

Empowering the family and patient to be independent will allow them to make more informed decisions about care and social and family implications regarding care of their parents and their own families. Just knowing they considered all of the options before they choose one will make their choice, what ever it is much easier.
